Turn More Visitors into Buyers - Keeping your Conversion Rates Up

After you have already launched your website, the next goal is to start getting the most quality traffic in the largest numbers possible. Many business experts agree that traffic conversion is much more of an important element than the actual traffic itself, yet there is a catch-22. Without the traffic coming in to your website in the first place, there will be no traffic to convert to revenue.

Both art as well as science, the conversion of traffic can be a difficult thing to master. It's important that you have a few solid foundations laid so that you can achieve higher conversion rates. You'll need good content on your site that attracts the attention of your visitors, without their attention it will be difficult to turn to turn these visitors into sales because they won't be paying much attention anyway.

This is one of the reasons a good persuasive sales letter is necessary to achieve good conversions. An ineffective sales letter can make your traffic practically useless. It might be a good read, but you won't receive as many sales from an unpersuasive sales letter which doesn't try to get customers to actually buy.

When you're perfecting the conversion rates of your websites, don't leave any element to chance. You should constantly be testing a tweaking everything that you think actually makes any difference in the visitor experience.

Try changing the headline on your page - did you see any effects in revenue and the conversion rate? If the rate is much lower, re-work your headline and try something different.

How about the location of your affiliate links? Are your affiliate advertisements located in certain hotspots which draw the most attention on the page? Or are they hard for visitors to find? The easier they are to find, then naturally the more clicks you're going to see. From these clicks, you'll hopefully see a steady flow of sales.

Hotspot placement has turned into a science, especially for webmasters who like to use plenty of Adsense ads on their website. In order to see the latest hotspot placement, run a search for adsense hotspots. This should help you get a general idea as to where you should be putting your money making advertisements for the most exposure, and thus the most clicks.

Naturally, you should pay special attention to the pages which draw the most traffic. Funnel the visitors from these pages to other pages which sell products or can turn the visitors into some other kind of revenue stream for you. Always be thinking about your conversion rate, the higher it is then the more average revenue you're going to be earning per visitor.

Constantly update your site, at least every few months if not more often than that. You may think that only visitors would appreciate an updated site, but search engine crawlers notice it and give you brownie points for updates, too. When you make changes, don't forget to carefully track the numbers. You don't want to be caught making any accidental changes which would harm your conversion rates, and thus revenue. A good rule of thumb: if it isn't broke don't try to fix it. When updating your site, I wouldn't recommend overhauling your site in any way. Keep updates to the copy of the site itself, don't go for a whole new redesign.
