Get reliable web hosting while you concentrate on other things

I've seen many people struggle with hosting their own server, especially a Windows server and having a multitude of problems trying to setup scripts that are designed for Apache servers. Why bother? The obvious thing, or what should be obvious is that only with available time for trial and error, or lots of research and study, or having plenty of existing experience to be brief would ever make it reasonable for someone to host their own server on their own Windows machine. Multiply those requirements by 10 if the server is expected to be optimized for good performance and secure at the same time.

I recall a reply on the webmasterworld forums from one user to another that was having problems setting file/folder permissions on IIS,,,, I couldn't have said it better myself. It went something like this:

"................The real reason I'm replying to your post is to prompt you to reconsider running a webshop (oscommerce, or any other script for that matter) from your home computer. You're heading for a world or worry and irritation (this is just the start) that for a paltry few bucks a month can all be taken care of by people who actually know what they're doing. "

Running an online shop/website period, getting traffic, dealing with customers, producing content etc will keep you busy enough without having to bother with the minutiae of day-to-day server administration and security. For your own peace of mind, put your server needs in the hands of the professionals."

It really does make a difference to have someone else doing the server side of things for you. A good webhost,,,, even most shared webhosting providers, do a great job supporting their customers. It is better to have that support available then to ask your script/web application vendor for help on server management (good luck, they are probably not server configuration experts) or scour the internet for solutions that are not confirmed or well explained.

For a shared hosting account with good support, I would recommend AN Hosting. (Best configured for scripts, good specs, great support.)

For a reliable semi/dedicated managed solution with in my opinion the best NOC (Network Operation Center) in the business. Each ServInt server right up to their Enterprise Level Dedicated Servers include the full advantage of their Managed Services team, and coverage by their comprehensive Service Level Agreement. This is who I use for hosting and I would be lost without them!
