Spam Free phpBB 2.0.22 forum. (or close enough)
Here is a simple solution for a fairly spam free phpBB 2.0.22 forum installed nice and easy via the EasyMOD system in a matter of minutes.
Give your phpBB forum a new captcha for registration vvc images, url posting control, an inactive userlist, profile options control, a spam log, an email notification option, and more! with Anti-Spam ACP!
Steps….
1. Ensure you have successfully installed or upgraded to the latest phpBB 2.0.22. Create backups of your files and database.
2. Install EasyMOD v0.3.0 released (for phpBB 2.0.x)

EasyMOD is an automatic MOD installer. It does in seconds what used to be the laborious and time-consuming task of manually editing files. EM will install EasyMOD Compliant (EMC) MODs and will try to install all other MODs, as well. For most users, MOD installs should be completely automated. There are break points during the installation, so you can check what EM proposes to do before it makes any permanent changes.
EasyMOD has pretty much become the standard for installing phpBB mods for 2.x , it’s a little complicated if you are new to this sort of thing but once you get the hang of it, installing those mods is very handy, I’d say the best advice is to not go overboard. Install only the best mods that you have scouted out, researched, have a good reputation and that you really need.
Installation
Downloading EasyMOD
EasyMOD is available for download from the sourceforge.net project page in three different formats:
easymod_0.3.0.tar.bz2 easymod_0.3.0.tar.gz easymod_0.3.0.zip Installing EasyMOD
Download the archive of the latest EasyMOD.Extract it into the admin/ directory of your phpBB2 installation. The proper directory hierarchy should be phpBB2/admin/mods/easymod/.Before proceeding, make sure subSilver style is installed in your board and also, make sure the english language files are present.From a web browser, open your board and make sure you're logged in as administrator, then open http://www.example.com/forum/admin/mods/easymod/easymod_install.php, where www.example.com/forum is the URL (and path) to your board, and the installer will guide you through everything. No modifications will occur before warning you first.If you configure EasyMOD to use FTP access, make sure you, as the owner, have write permission on ALL your phpBB files (CHMOD 755).
3. Install Anti-Spam ACP 2.0.8 (for phpBB 2.0.22)

Now you are ready for the fun part. Combating that damn spam for good….

If your install was unsuccessful, restore your backup files and database then try again.
After a successful install, you should logout then back into your phpBB forum administration panel and you will have your new options to play with!
