Do you desire to make money? or do you want to PLAN ON MAKING MONEY!?
The important planning part of your website is consideration for optimizing it for monetization. It is great to want a hobby site, informational site or community site that is successful based on the content, passion and effort you put into it,,,, but if you want to gain an advantage and maximize your income potential from the site….. you will need to plan from the ground up. One strategy would be to divide your site into major sections, ordered by themes, and start building new pages and subsections in those sections. For example, you might have a "webmaster" section, with a "web hosting" subsection and a "windows hosting" subsection within that for a webmaster related site. This allows you to better trigger your keywords via the different section URL’s, meta tags, title tags, and article content through the many sections you have. You can write and publish relevant articles in the respective sections to attract a stream of traffic that comes looking for further information on the topics you are targeting. Note, this plan is for the ambition only as your site will be bare and filled with no content and only empty sections unless you fill it up with articles and content! It can be a motivational tool to plan and plan big as you know where you are going and what you need to do… what content you need and where it is going.
When you have a broader, better-defined scope of themes for your website, you can better sell advertising space on your pages to people interested in advertising within a give topic. You can also earn from contextual advertising programs like Google's Adsense and Yahoo! Search Marketing, if people surf to those themed pages of yours and click on the ads, your laughing! Good content on themed pages fits the criteria perfectly as your articles and backend work will be filled with the fuel needed, so to say, to get your highly targeted traffic to your website and serving them applicable ads. Of course you will hope that you have already made an impression and your visitor has bookmarked you before they exit on an ad,,, you always have to keep that in mind as well, more so for community/interactive websites then informational sites but to keep in mind none the less.
As the Internet becomes available to more people, advertising on the Internet will be bigger business then magazines or any offline media. The opportunity for anyone is that there is a lot of room for anyone to get there piece of the pie. Hence, start tapping in on this lucrative stream of profit right away! If you have an idea for website, start planning and keep at it. If you choose for failure to be not an option and follow your plans, you will earn your keep.
