It's a common complaint on the Internet where you hear that someone has stolen content from someone in someway. Joy.

I decided to take a look today a where some of my articles might be republished with author credits or linkback etc.... and what I found was one blog actually reproducing my entire "Domain names - Shady business" article with no credit or link back to the source or author,,, ME!

lol

Yes, I was laughing out loud... with that "I thought it would never happen to me attitude"..... I thought it was quite amusing to see that some peckerhead was reproducing my article with zero intention of crediting the source. At the same time it was partly annoying thinking that I spent 30 minutes of my creative power to create this original article and now this person is posting it s their own. Well,,,, not exactly. A better guess is that they are not reproducing other peoples articles as their own per say, they are reproducing them just for the attention of Mr. Google Adsense and could care less who wrote the article or who reads them.

Many of us know that protecting your intellectual rights online is next to impossible and to even try would cost you 100 fold the fortune your trying to make but don't have yet so what do you really do?

The author of this blog with my article did not have a contact method listed so just for kicks and an official response from the service being used to host my stolen article, I contacted blogspot.com / blogger.com / Google requesting they remove my article.

Dear Blogger.com,

http://domaininformer.blogspot.com/2006/08/domain-names-shady-business.html

The above URL contains my article which has been reproduced without my permission or credit.

Please remove it.

Thank you.

In the end I expect that a reputable service powered by Google will take appropriate action but when your content is ripped off and plagiarized all over the Internet hosted on ghost servers all over the world that you will never locate, what will you do and much time will spend doing it? Good luck.

I love syndicating my articles, granting reprint rights on some articles, social bookmarking, post exchanges, trading featured spots on other networks, I don't even mind if others are inspired by anything I write and base their own thoughts on it. I guess in the middle of this we have to expect the Internet's top blackhat search engine tools to steal our content and splatter it all over splogs, made for adsense (MFA) networks and all sorts of other scraper type sites with no credit back to us authors.

Anyway, again, the time to monitor or pay attention to this is just not available, ever, not even in a lifetime, so anyone else in a similar position, I'd suggest moving on. We can let Karma handle this one for us!
